ghana 2014 – tag 10

After ten days of staring at the ocean and not knowing if it is dangerous to swim in it I just asked one of the fishermen. He jumped in the ocean with me and gave me a few hints of how to deal with the crashing waves. With these pointers it was actually quite easy and fun.

He asked me afterwards if I want to help them drag their boat out to shore. So spot the white guy.

Some curious kids in a quite market street in keta followed us and we had some fun.

Zehn Tage lang hab ich das Meer beobachtet und mich gefragt warum da nie jemand drinnen schwimmt. Ich hab da diese Regel “Do it like the locals”, und wenn kein Einheimischer in s Meer geht war ich nicht sicher ob das nicht einen guten Grund hat. An dem Tag hab ich dann einen der Fischer angesprochen und ihn gefragt. Was der sich über mich gedacht hat will ich gar nicht wissen, aber wir sind dann gemeinsam im Meer schwimmen gewesen – was überraschend unproblematisch war.

Er hat mich dann gefragt ob ich ihnen helfen will ihr Boot an land zu ziehen. War ein wirklich cooles Erlebnis. Durch den leeren Markt sind wir dann zurück zu einem Taxi gegangen.
